KABLAMO!

You know...I've got a new appreciation for the diligence and dedication it takes to be an effective blogger. But in fairness, I warned y'all circa my very first post...technology is not my bag baby! We're working on it.
So Mother's Day just past, and my momma is my very favourite woman in the whole world...she is what it means to be a real lady!!! OFCOURSE I had to hook her up with something original...She will be rocking a beautiful aubergine fade out overprint maxi resort dress custom made just for her this summer. I guess the proper blogger thing to do would be to post?! Will do.
I've also been coming around to getting my second collection into production...
Now I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we got maybe 4 weeks left until many of us will be beginning to slip into some sassy swimwear (I've been a complete gym rat in my personal quest to a bikini bod) so perhaps it is a good thing Miss non-technological over here has the wheels turning on getting the Ashley Boutcher collection available online.
Here's an article a fellow fashion guru sent my way for further debate. My two cents...if tan lines aren't a deal breaker, one pieces are hotter than ever!!! Votes?

My, my, kids. Where has the time gone?! Well let's fast track whats been keeping me so busy this past month! Got myself a coverseamer. mmmm hmmm. A coverseamer. That lil' magic piece of machinery (actually, its quite big being an industrial) that is essential to swimwear production. And what is it I do? Exactly! So I'm pumped. It's my baby Siruba. I also finally found a fully functioning antique Singer machine over 100 years old!!! I'm a sucker for these beautiful pieces of history. So I now have 6 sewing machines all for completely different functions and yet am planning a big move for June...oh lord help my chronic spontaneity. This will be quite the move! Also, my precious daschund Buns just turned three! Just look at that darling face!

TIC, TACK, SEW!

The zipper is in, the hem is hemmed and we are just over a week to the big night! I hope the dress fits my model!

Its been a strange and welcome break away from my beloved knits and swimwear, and I have probably for the first time in my life, successfully and perfectly lined a garment...karma for being towards a good cause!

Beading still to follow... and then? New projects! I still have to master crochet!!! That'll be an adventure to follow!

Also, when iTunes gives you that little pop up "are you sure you want to purchase...?" read carefully. You may accidentally end up with some mash up versions of your fave songs. Just Sayin.

Much Love!

PAUSE.

Today fashion has lost a genius mind that is Alexander McQueen.

Always pushing boundaries and challenging the accepted and expected aesthetics of fashion; McQueen has always been such an inspiration to me during my years at Design School and now, in my budding career. He touched the world.

Sew far, Sew Good!

Yes friends; I have been a little caught up with the lean, mean stitchin' machine to blog my progress...needless to say; we are on our way to a complete dress! Fittings for the event are starting this week, and this ones gotta fit like a glove!
Remember, the name of the game is texture...and I'm feeling it! And with no further suspense, details are available on the charitable event at hand!
Get those tickets! This is a great cause!
So! Now that you're in the know, I've got a dress to tend to. 'Seams' I've got my work cut out for me!
Until next time blogger beauties; wish the Groundhog good luck!

Body Building!

Hola All!
As previously promised; Imma let y'all in on what I've been up to:
SO! I have been asked to create a dress that encompasses the theme 'texture' for an upcoming exclusive Toronto event. Now, as the event is still a few months away, it has not been officially announced as yet, and for such reasons I will not kill the surprise. But it is for an amaaaazing cause and you can watch me make my creation every step of the way leading up to the big night!
Today me and my friend Judy here did some body building and the rough drape of the dress shell is under way! But EVERYBODY who knows an Ashley Boutcher design knows it's not over until the fat lady sings...or in this case, I get beading! Hence, where I fit in with the whole 'texture' themed event!
Stay tuned...

OUT WITH THE OLD....IN WITH THE BOLD!!!!

Beaded Babe here reporting live...

(always wanted to say that...sounds important!!! ;)

So now that the New Year is here, we've got a fresh start at hanging out the boring in our lives and making it a little more spicy! While not insensitive to the economic climate and what it has meant to many, I am optimistic about the challenge we are presented with here. We are somewhat forced to experience our lives, each other, and our material possessions outside of what money alone can buy.
We are forced to look at what our own true priorities are, and self reflect for a little depth in our creations, whatever your craft may be. As a designer, I will say, my creativity has been stretched. Why is it, in a recession, retailers are so loyal to black? Now, don't get me wrong, black can be classic, flattering and timeless (in the right cuts), however, in day to day wear, there is little setting our ensembles apart. Dare I say, it is our resourcefulness and our very individuality that gets us through these trickier times, and we need to celebrate this!!!! Take something boring and usual, and splash a little of yourself on it! A plain white tank top can become a work of art and a great conversation starter with the hottie buying a latte just a head of you at your morning coffee run. All fun aside, lets out with the old, and in with the bold!!!!!!
